TUGUEGARAO CITY – About 30 suspected New People’s Army rebels raided a police sub-station in Annafatan West, Amulung, Cagayan at about 5:45 p.m. on Thursday and seized eight guns and burned a car, a military report from the 17th Infantry Battalion said.
The suspected communist guerrillas raided the Pulisya ti Umili police sub-station in Amulung and stripped the four police of their firearms including 1 M-14 Armalite rifle, four M-16 Armalite rifles and three pistols and later burned a Mahindra car, according to a report from Lt. Col. Rembert Baylosis, 17th Infantry Battalion commander.
The attack was allegedly a retaliation after the arrest of rebel leader David Soriano of the NPA-Northern Luzon Command.
“The (NPA rebels) might have noticed the (operation) and directed the conduct of the raid to redirect Armed Forces and Philippine National Police efforts to respond to raid and ease effort on Soriano,” the report added. Villamor Visaya Jr./PNA-northboundasia.com
