SAN JOSE De BUENAVISTA, Antique — Palarong Pambansa medal winners on Friday received cash incentives in recognition of their excellent performances in the national games.
Celestino Dalumpines, DepEd Antique Information Officer, said in an interview that the monetary reward was released at the Department of Education (DepEd) Division Office in San Jose de Buenavista.
The incentives given were PHP3,000 for gold medalists, PHP2,000 for silver and PHP1,000 for bronze awardees.
“The athletes can use it in whatever way they want like buying souvenirs for them to bring home,” Dalumpines said. He said athletes might also share the amount with their coaches.
The incentives of the athletes were part of the PHP30 million that was downloaded by DepEd Central Office to the DepEd Antique Division for the Palaro.
As of Friday afternoon, there were already 282 gold, 283 silver and 358 bronze medals won in the Palaro competition.
Meanwhile, in the latest medal tally, the National Capital Region Athletic Association (NCRAA) has now earned 80 gold medals followed by Region VI with 33 golds; Region IV A with 22 golds; CARAA with 21 golds; Region XII with 19 golds; Negros Island Region with 18 golds; Region X with 15 golds; and Region XI with 15 gold medals.
