CAMP DANGWA, Benguet -– Personnel of Kapangan, Benguet Police confiscated a total of P4,517,000 worth of dried marijuana leaves and P500,000 cash in two separate police operations in the town during the Lenten season.
A total of 10 tubular dried marijuana stalks and one marijuana brick with an estimated value of P142,000 were seized at a police check point on black Saturday.
Earlier during the week, the same police operatives seized five sacks containing 41 marijuana bricks weighing two kilograms each, three bricks of one kilogram each and 18 marijuana stalks weighing one kilogram each.
These operations also led to the arrest of 17 persons including four minors and the confiscation of P500,000.
Both accomplishments were done at a police checkpoint in Kapangan, Benguet.
Kapangan chief of police Chief Inspector Jim Hilario said that the checkpoint was established following receipt of information that illegal hemp will be transported to Metro Manila.
Kapangan is one of the towns in Benguet known to produce high-grade marijuana, which are discreetly transported to the lowlands.
