2 arrested in Pangasinan for selling illegal drugs

LINGAYEN, Pangasinan — True to its word that the campaign against illegal drugs will not take a backseat during the Holy Week, the Pangasinan police arrested two persons in separate buy-bust operations in Villasis and Umingan towns on Good Friday.

Arrested at 9 a.m. on April 14 in Poblacion Zone 5 in Villasis by police under the supervision of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) was Clifford Natura, alias “Ipod”, 34, of Barangay Bacag, who sold one sachet of dried marijuana leaves to an undercover police operative.

Three more sachets of marijuana and two marked PHP100 bills were seized by lawmen from his possession.

Also arrested by the police, in coordination with PDEA, in another sting operation in Umingan at 11:30 a.m. was a certain Alfredo Sildera, 55, a former drug surrenderer and resident of Barangay Nancalobasaan.

He was first sighted selling drugs in Poblacion East, Umingan and fell in an entrapment operation half an hour later when a policeman disguised as a buyer arranged to purchase from him.

He agreed to sell one plastic sachet containing a crystalline substance suspected to be methamphetamine hydrochloride, known as shabu, and was arrested once he received a marked PHP500 bill.

The police is preparing a case against the suspects for violating Republic Act No. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. Leonardo Micua/PNA-northboundasia.com
