Aguirre to study documents exposing corruption of past admin

MANILA — Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II on Wednesday said he will study first the documents that contain details of alleged corrupt activities during the past administration.

Aguirre was referring to the documents he received from civil society leader Pastor “Boy” Saycon, secretary-general of the Council for Philippine Affairs on Wednesday in a meeting after a radio interview in Makati City.

The DOJ Chief however refused to give details on the former officials involved but hinted that they held very high positions in the government.

”Involving the past administration (Aquino administration), the documents may kontrata, resibo, tungkol sa gambling may PAGCOR related, may CEZA related meron din sa contributions sa candidates na hindi dineklara sa kanilang SOCE,” he explained.

Aguirre said the document contains information on the alleged involvement of certain former government officials in gambling, particularly regarding the operations of the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR), and campaign funds certain candidates failed to declare in their Statement of Contributions and Expenditures (SOCE) during the May 2016 elections.

”I have to study. I have to look at it kasi ako ay ininterview lamang.

Asked if the documents are original and legally obtained, Aguirre answered “original ang dokumento, legal public documents (and) talagang credible of the highest degree.” Christopher Lloyd Caliwan/PNA-northboundasia.com
