Bataan holds prayers, candle lighting vs drugs, criminality

SAMAL, Bataan — Local government units in Bataan held prayers and candle-lighting on Sunday in support to President Rodrigo Duterte’s war on drugs, criminality and corruption.

Mayor Gene dela Fuente, Methodist Pastor Dante delos Santos and some other religious ministers led in the activities at the town plaza fronting the municipal hall.

“President Duterte wants every town to give prayers for those who lost direction in life. Praying for the Holy Spirit to touch their hearts,” the lady mayor said.

Dela Fuente said they were one with the President in the war against illegal drugs, criminality and corruption. “

“I hope for the elimination of the poverty,” she said.

There were no fiery speeches for the night ala-EDSA but solemn prayers as the candles were lighted.

The mayor transferred the light of her candle to members of the police and Bureau of Fire Protection, municipal government employees, students, senior citizens, barangay health workers and other sectors.

“Lord, remove the influence of illegal drugs into the lives of the pushers. We pray for the rehabilitation centers to be the continous shelter for those hooked in drugs,” Pastor delos Santos said in his prayers. PNA-northboundasia.com
