Baguio City temperature drops to 11 degrees Celsius

BAGUIO CITY –Temperature in Baguio City on Monday dropped to 11ºC, the coldest morning in the city so far since the northeast monsoon set in this month.

Weatherman Raymond Ordinario said the temperature which was the lowest at the Central Business District so far was recorded at 5 a.m. At the same time, a temperature of 9ºC was recorded at the summit of Mount Santo Tomas.

At the summit of Mount Pulag, temperature as low as 2ºC have been experienced in the last three days, according to the Office of Civil Defense – Cordillera Regional Office (OCD-CAR)

Low temperatures may still be experienced until the end of February.

Average temperature is between 10ºC and 12ºC in Baguio City and is attributed to the northeast monsoon from China and Mongolia, Ordinario said.

He also said that tropical depression “Auring” has no direct effect in Baguio City, Benguet and the Cordillera Region in general.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) is anticipating a low temperature of about 7.5ºC until end of January.
