MANILA, Nov 21 (PNA) — The Philippine National Police (PNP) has asked the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) and the Department of Justice (DOJ) to investigate the involvement of an inmate at the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) in Muntinlupa City on the continuous proliferation of illegal drugs.
This after a suspect, who was arrested in a buy-bust operation in Guadalupe, Makati City on Monday, admitted that her boyfriend who is currently detained at the NBP had struck the deal for the distribution of 20 kilos of shabu.
In a press conference in Camp Crame, Quezon City on Monday, PNP chief Director General Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa identified the inmate as Hilario Labadero, the boyfriend of the suspect identified as Maria Rosario Echaluse, 38, who served as the inmate’s courier or seller.
Dela Rosa left it to the discretion of the DOJ on what action to be taken against Labadero.
Aside from Echaluse, the other suspects caught in the act of selling and possessing illegal drugs included Angelo Echaluce, 19, resident of No. 0377 Cervo Compound, Bilibiran, Binangonan, Rizal.
The two suspects were arrested after they sold to a poseur-buyer one kilo of suspected shabu, which was packed in a self-sealed transparent plastic, worth Php 1 million pesos.
Also seized from suspects were another 21 kilos of suspected shabu, which were individually packed in kilos in a self-sealed transparent plastic, and the marked money used in the transaction, a cellphone and other pieces of evidence which may relate to the offense.
The seized 22 kilos of suspected shabu are estimated to worth more or less Php 110 million.
Documentary requirements are now being prepared for filing of appropriate charges in violation of RA 9165 against the two suspects. Perfecto Raymundo/PNA-northboundasia.com
