Acetylene Gang Member Leaves P.5-M loot in La Union

SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union – An alleged member of the Acetylene Gang abandoned his car loaded with around P500, 000 worth of assorted goods after policemen closed in on him at the government center in Barangay Sevilla here Thursday afternoon.

Chief Inspector Bernardo Manzano, the city police’s deputy chief for operations, said that the unidentified driver, immediately got out of his car, a Toyota Corolla with plate number TAR 975, and fled on foot

Manzano said the suspect had just robbed a house at the Pocsidio Compound in Barangay Lingsat this city when a flash alarm about the incident was received by policemen.

“Immediately, after we were informed of the incident, we deployed our patrols until they saw the suspect driving the car along the diversion road and a brief chase followed the vehicle until the suspect ran and left the car,” Manzano said.

Recovered inside the car were acetylene tools with gas tank, seven laptops, netbooks with accessories, seven assorted cell phones, and assorted

gold and silver jewelries, all with an estimated amount of P500, 000.

 

Police also found an identification card with the name of a certain Glenn Alvin Orille, probably the suspect. It was not known whether he had accomplices when he staged the robbery.

Acetylene gang is a term used to refer to robbery groups whose operandi is to dig tunnels leading to establishments such as banks, jewelry stores and pawn shops. Jun Elias/Northbound Philippines News
