SANTOL, La Union – Illegal marijuana leaves worth more than P2-million, weighing more than 17 kilos, were seized by authorities at Sitio Inasan, Barangay Tubaday this town, during the weekend.
Police Senior Inspector, Antonio Arce Marzan, Jr., Chief of Police, said Barangay Captain Pulmano Agadang reported that a fisherman discovered the banned leaves, contained in a sack, near the foot trails leading to the Amburayan River, particularly at the boundary between Barangay Tubaday and Barangay Licungan, Sugpon, Ilocos Sur.
Marzan, quoting Agadang, said that the sack of marijuana leaves was partially covered with cellophane and grasses.
Marzan said that he believed that the traders were waiting for an opportunity to transport the banned leaves to their buyer.
The confiscated marijuana leaves are now under the custody of the Santol Police Station for documentation and will be forwarded to the Regional Crime Laboratory Office 1 in San Fernando City. Northbound Philippines News
