BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya — The Department of Social Welfare and Development(DSWD) is in the process of validating report of damaged houses in both Nueva Vizcaya and Quirino provinces to hasten assistance for victims.
Viennalyn Rafallo, DSWD information officer said they are now coordinating with their Panatawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program(4Ps) municipal links in both provinces to check the reported damaged houses in the municipalities.
“We are going in the reported areas where houses of villagers were reportedly damaged to assess and evaluate them further. This is a way of cross checking the validity of reports,” she said.
Rafallo said the move seeks to ensure that government assistance will be received and maximized by those who are not capable to rebuild and repair their damaged houses.
She said that under the Emergency Shelter Assistance Program(ESAP), families whose houses are totally and partially damaged will receive PHP30,000 and PHP10,000, respectively.
“We are hastening the damage assessment and validation so that hopefully by the end of this year, the government assistance will be received by the victims,” Rafallo said.
She said the government through the DSWD is bent on providing assistance to typhoon victims in the country the soonest possible time. PNA-northboundasia.com
