14 killed due to Typhoon ‘Lawin’ — PNP

MANILA, Oct. 21 (PNA) — The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Friday reported that 14 people were killed during the onslaught of Typhoon “Lawin” in the Northern Luzon area on Thursday.

In its report, the PNP-National Operations Center (NOC) said that as of 7 a.m. Friday, the number of casualties was recorded at 29 such that 14 people were killed, seven were missing and eight others were injured.

Of the 14 persons killed, one was from the Police Regional Office-1 (Ilocos Region), three were from PRO-2 (Cagayan Valley), two from PRO-3 (Central Luzon) and eight from PROCOR (Cordillera Administrative Region).

Of the seven people missing, one was from PRO-4A (Calabarzon) and six from the Cordilleras.

Of the eight persons injured, four were from Cagayan Valley and four from the Cordilleras.

Likewise, the total number of evacuees was 20,746 families or 81,610 individuals such that 4,430 families or 15,722 individuals are from Ilocos Region, 11,536 families or 47,299 individuals are from Cagayan Valley, 1,921 families or 7,429 individuals are from Central Luzon and 2,859 families or 11,160 individuals are from the Cordilleras.

At the same time, the PNP has deployed a total of 794 personnel such that 144 personnel to the Ilocos Region, 405 to Cagayan Valley, 216 to Central Luzon and 29 to the Cordilleras.

Certain parts of road in Amulung, Cagayan are not passable.

The Cuyapo Nueva Ecija-Pangasinan Road, Gen. Natividad-Palayan Bridge and National Hi-way, Barangay Putlan, Carangalan are not passable.

The Banaue-Mayoyao Road, Tinoc-Kiangan Road, Kalinga-Abra Road, Pinukpuk-Balbalan Road, Lacub-Bangued Road, Claveria to Calanasan- Road, Conner-Kabugao Road, Beckel Road, Banaue-Hingyon Road, Kennon Road Closed, Baguio-Vizcaya Road, Halsema Road, Ambuklao Road, Hungduan-Tinoc Road, Mayoyao-Aguinaldo Road, Baay Road, Bucay Road, Bucloc Road, Daguioman Road, Luba Road, Lacub Road, Langiden Road, Luba Road, Malibcong Road, Manabo Road, Sallapadan Road, Tineg Road, Tubo Road are closed to traffic.
