SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union — Governor Francisco Emmanuel Ortega III has ordered all the 20 mayors of La Union to immediately activate their disaster management councils to prepare for the incoming Typhoon “Lawin”.
Ortega, who presided over the meeting of the provincial disaster risk reduction and management council at the Diego Silang Hall here Monday, directed the mayors to preposition all the needed facilities, such as evacuation centers, rescue vehicles, relief goods, among others.
Ortega also ordered the purchase of additional food supplies to augment the existing 1,800 bags of rice which will be distributed to affected families.
He also ordered the preempted evacuation of residents in low-lying areas, particularly the isolated barangays in the towns of Bangar, Aringay, Agoo, and San Fernando City.
“Typhoon Lawin is forecast to head towards northern Luzon and most likely to become super typhoon. Please activate your incident command management team.
