Village chief gunned down, another nabbed for firearms, ammunition in Batangas

CAMP MALVAR, Batangas City — A village chief was shot by unidentified gunman on Tuesday at Village 3 here while another was held for possession of firearms and ammunition at Tilambo Village in Taysan town in this province.

In a report, Supt. Barnard D. Dasugo, Batangas City police chief, said the victim was identified as Felix Bernal Garcia alias Macmac, 40, village chief of Village 2, who was shot once at close range by still unidentified perpetrator at Panganiban Street, Village 3 near Calumpang Bridge.

Investigators recovered a Caliber 45 pistol with serial number 856147, a magazine and six live ammunition for the same caliber at the scene.

Dasugo immediately ordered a dragnet operation for possible identification and apprehension of the suspect.

In another incident, a man was arrested in Tilambo Village, Taysan town identified as Edward Chua Go , 45, during the implementation of a search warrant by the personnel of the Provincial Intelligence Brach (PIB) on same day.

Recovered in the possession of the suspect were a Caliber 9 mm Beretta pistol with serial number X41984Z; a magazine,15 live ammunition for caliber 9mm; a black holster and a firearm license card.

The arrested suspect is now detained at the Batangas Provincial Police Office lock-up cell with appropriate charges are readied for filing in Court. Jojo Magsombol/PNA-northboundasia.com
