No damage in Magnitude 5.4 quake felt in Pangasinan

DAGUPAN CITY — No damage nor aftershock was reported in the Intensity 5.4 3 earthquake that originated 19 kilometers off Bolinao town in Pangasinan at 9:40 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 2.

The quake jolted residents of Dagupan City, some 60 kilometers east of Bolinao from their sleep.

The Intensity meter installed by the Philippine Institute of Volcanonology and Technology (Phivolcs) at the Public Alert Response and Management Center (PARMC) in Dagupan City said the quake was felt in Dagupan at Intensity 3.

Phivolcs said there was no danger of tsunami as the earthquake was only three kilometers deep.

The quake was also felt in other parts of the Ilocos region.

The quake came just a few days after pupils and students as well as employees in government and private firms in Pangasinan participated in the nationwide simultaneous earthquake drill executing the “duck, cover and hold”.
