LA TRINIDAD, Benguet –- Nellie Lingbanan, executive secretary to Benguet Governor Crecencio Pacalso, on Wednesday said classes in all levels of both public and private educational institutions are suspended on Friday, September 30 by virtue of Executive Order (EO) 2016-04 in observation of “Teachers’ Day”.
Lingbanan said a Teachers Day program will commence at 8 a.m. at the Wangal Provincial Sports Complex in La Trinidad, Benguet which will be highlighted with the recognition of outstanding teachers from the private and public schools; higher education and vocational schools and the recognition of outstanding schools and school heads.
Certificates and plaques of recognition will be awarded to the “Best Curriculum Implementer” (Loo Elementary School in Buguias and Tublay School of Industries) and other individual recognition like the “Outstanding Math Teacher” in elementary and high school; “Natatanging Guro sa Filipino” (Outstanding Filipino Teacher), to name a few.
Lingbanan said EO 2016-04 is pursuant to Provincial Ordinance 15-170 declaring the last Friday of September every year as “Teachers’ Day”, thus the suspension of classes in all levels in both public and private schools.
Lingbanan is encouraging all teachers to participate in the activities on Friday which were prepared by the provincial government for the teachers.
The activities will showcase the teachers’ best practices in their respective schools which will also be participated in by the local and education officials from all 13 Education Districts of the Province of Benguet.
The different schools are expected to field-in their entries for the search for Mr. and Ms. DepEd (Department of Education) Benguet coupled with other entertainment activities for the whole day.
This year’s observation of Teachers’ Day carries the theme, “Guro: Kabalikat sa Pagbabago” (Teacher: Partner in Change). Jojo Lamaria/PNA-northboundasia.com
