TUGUEGARAO CITY – The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed a Php 64 million bridge project that connects the provinces in Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region and Ilocos Region.
DPWH Region 2 regional director Melanio C. Briosos, said the 2-span, 66-lineal meter Guiddam Bridge located along Manila North Road (KMO571+737) in Barangay Guiddam, Abulug, Cagayan is now serviceable.
The new Guiddam Bridge is a pre-stressed concrete girders (PSCG) type V bridge with 7.32 meter deck and 0.76 meter sidewalks at both sides. It replaced the old damaged steel truss bridge.
Briosos also said, the bridge would provide convenience to the public in transporting agricultural and commercial products of Abulug to major trade centers in the area and neighboring provinces.
The municipality of Abuyug is known as producer of rice, vegetable, fish and industrial products such as lumber. Its native cottage industries are mat-weaving, pottery, nipa shingle and native winemaking.
“The newly constructed infrastructure will greatly improve accessibility and mobility in the vicinity by providing an enhanced transport facility in the Manila North Road which is the gateway to Region I and access to CAR through the Province of Apayao”, Briosos added. PNA – northboundasia.com
