Device explodes in New Jersey along route of planned road run

NEW YORK — A device exploded in a garbage pail in the US state of New Jersey on Saturday along the route of a planned road run, local prosecutor’s office said.

No injuries or damage to surrounding structures were reported so far after the device exploded in Seaside Park, the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office said on Facebook.

The start of the road run was delayed, which avoided a large number of runners in the area, the office said.

There was a report of at least one other device near the site of the explosion, the office said, adding that the area was on lockdown while bomb dogs were searching for additional bombs.
