Canadian, 2 others in drug watchlist shot dead in La Union

SAN JUAN, La Union – A Canadian was killed and his Filipino companion was seriously injured when they were shot by unidentified assailants
while they were having a drinking session in the house of the former in Barangay Taboc this town on Wednesday night.

Chief Inspector Siverio Ordinado Jr, La Union police information officer, identified the Canadian as Niranjan Sachithanantham, 39, a businessman, and his companion as Edgar Obras, 30, residents of Barangay Taboc. who are in the provincial illegal drug watch list.

The Canadian suffered several gunshot wounds from calibre 45 on his body and head and was rushed to the Bacnotan District Hospital but was
declared dead upon arrival while Obras sustained gun shot on his right armed and was taken to the Lorma Medical Center in San Fernando City
for treatment.

Investigation showed that the victims’s killers arrived at Niranjan’s house, fired at them several times, and fled away on board a motorcycle.

Meanwhile, in Bauang town, Arjay Isla, 29, an alleged illegal drug pusher who surrendered recently, was killed on the spot by a riding in tandem men who shot him while he was standing in front the barangay hall of Central West.

In San Fernando City, Angeles Bautista, 35, a resident of Barangay Poro and listed as illegal drug pusher was killed by unidentified men who shot him in front of the Solas Bar in Barangay Madayegdeg, where he worked, in the wee hours last Thursday.
