VIGAN CITY, September 13 (PIA) – The province of Ilocos Sur will once again celebrate its Tourism Week on September 22 to 24. According to Michael Ryan Astom, provincial tourism officer, a Street Food Festival will highlight this year’s celebration.
“The Street Food Fest will focus on the traditional Ilocano or Ilocos Sur foods such as kankanen (food made of glutinous rice),” said Astom. Other activities during the celebration include the Bicentennial Ilocos Sur Anniversary logo making contest to be joined by 27 entries from residents of the province.
The winner will be announced on September 22. “The winning logo will be used for the 200th year of the separation of the province from Ilocos Norte in 2018,” Astom said.
An extemporaneous tour guiding in English among students from colleges offering tourism courses will also be on September 22. On September 23, an Abel Yloco fashion show by tourism-related firms in the province will be staged at the Vigan Convention Center.
Stakeholders and partners who contributed in the development of tourism in the province will also be recognized on same day.
To cap off the celebration, a street party will be open to everybody in front of the provincial capitol on September 24. Imelda Rivero/PIA RO1/northboundasia.com
