BAGUIO CITY –- The Cordillera Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (CRDRRMC) on Tuesday, September 13, raised its alert level status “Red” in anticipation of threats posed by Typhoon “Ferdie”.
The CRDRRMC convened for a Pre-Disaster Risk Assessment (PDRA) meeting on September 13 at the OCD Cordillera Operations Center.
Members of the council reported actions taken by their respective agencies.
The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) is monitoring the preparedness actions of local government units; the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) advised all local DRRM offices to synchronize alert status and submit reports to National DRRMC; the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) intensified information dissemination to local media in the region and nearby provinces; the Police Regional Office – Cordillera (PRO-Cor) activated “Oplan Saklolo” and their response team;
The Department of Agriculture (DA) also activated its operations center and advised provincial agriculture offices to submit status of crops to be harvested; the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) is continuously monitoring rain gauges, for possible maintenance; the Tactical Operations Group 1 (TOG1) of the Philippine Air Force (PAF) activated two teams on standby for possible deployment;
The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) prepositioned relief goods with more than 10,000 family food packs available, and the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) alerted district engineering offices and heavy equipment were already prepositioned.
