1 dead, five hurt in car-tricycle collision in Pangasinan

SISON, Pangasinan — A tricycle driver was killed and his five passengers were injured when his motorized tricycle figured in a head-on collision with a south-bound Toyota Fortuner along the national road in Barangay Agat here at about 2:00 p.m. of September 11, police said.

The lone fatality was Noel Marzan, 37, driver of Honda Tmx tricycle, who was declared dead on arrival at the Northern Luzon Adventist Hospital in Barangay Artacho, Sison.

Also rushed to the same hospital were Govita Montalla, 37; Glenda Manzano, 26; Sophia Eliza De Gracia; and John Patrick Montalla, all residents of Barangay San Julian Norte, Agoo, La Union and Judy Ann Gundran y Corpuz, 19 yrs. old, single and a resident of Barangay Santiago Norte, Caba, La Union.

The tricycle collided with a black Toyota Fortuner owned and driven by Joseph Noel Longboan, 52, a lawyer, and of Filinvest, Quezon City.

Investigation showed that the accident occurred when the tricycle, which was heading to the north direction, overtook a vehicle, not knowing that the Toyota Fortuner was cruising in the opposite direction, resulting in the collision of the two vehicles. PNA/northboundasia.com
