DAGUPAN CITY — Three armed men were arrested by the police while they were harvesting milkfish in a private fishpond located in Barangay Pugaro here at around 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.
Arrested by elements of a Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team of the Dagupan police were Marvin Caspillan, 43, of Barangay Licsi, Manaoag; Alfredo Fontanilla, 60, of San Isidro, Binmaley; and Christopher Donato, 53, also of San Isidro, Binmaley.
The three had in their possession, control and custody one rifle carbine caliber .30 without serial number with inserted magazine loaded with 10 pieces of live ammunition, and one caliber .45 pistol with inserted magazine loaded with seven live ammunition and one magazine for caliber .45 loaded with two live ammunition.
The suspects failed to show any license for their firearms during the investigation.
Initial investigation disclosed that the three, together with seven others who eluded arrest, were the subjects of a complaint before the police by spouses Erwin Dee, 56, and Lilian Dee, 55, of Zamora St., Brgy. II and III, Dagupan City to have gone to their fishpond located at the river bank of Pugaro District and were said to be in possession of high-powered firearms.
Supt. Neil Miro, acting Dagupan City police, dispatched the SWAT team led by Senior Inspector Joel Cabaddu to the island village of Pugaro and promptly arrested three of the suspects.
A case for violation of Republic Act No. 10591 (illegal possession of firearms and ammunition) and robbery are being readied for filing against the suspects. PNA/northboundasia.com
