BATAC CITY –While the controversy on Marcos burial is set for hearing Wednesday at the Supreme Court, organizers in the celebration of the former president’s 99th birthday celebration will lead a mass offering and candle-lighting ceremony on September 11, 2016 here.
The said event will take place at the Imelda Cultural Center in Batac City starting 5:30 in the afternoon. Thousands of Marcos loyalists from various parts of the country are expected to attend the vigil as they unite and pay tribute to the beloved son of the province claimed as the greatest Philippine president by far.
The three-day celebration will kick off on Friday, September 9, with the Marcos Fiesta Job Fair at the Robinsons Place Ilocos main activity area in San Nicolas town.
An opening program sponsored by the Rotary Club of Metro Ilocos Norte will be held at 10:30 a.m. at the Robinsons annex activity area.
In the same venue, the Makoy Literary and Arts Contest, also sponsored by the Rotary Club of Metro Ilocos Norte, will start at 10:45 am with a Quiz Show to be participated by high school students across the province.
It will be followed by the Kalesa painting contest from 10:45am to 5pm and debate cup at 3pm.
On September 10, a mini-exhibition of posters will be launched at 10:30am. A throwback OPM hits medley quartet singing contest will be held simultaneously at the annex activity area.
They will be followed by the Pinoy tango, creative story-telling and ‘Ferdie and Imelda’ sing-a-like and look-a-like contests.
FEM’s actual birthday on September 11 will begin with a cook-off featuring Ilocano delicacies and dinengdeng (a vegetable broth with fish paste)
, the former President’s favorite dish. The event, sponsored by the Bakers and restaurants Association of Ilocos Norte, will take place at the Imelda Cultural Center in Batac City.
The celebration will culminate with a mass at the Immaculate Conception Batac Church at 4pm and dinner at the Ferdinand E. Marcos Presidential Centerat 6pm. PNA/northboundasia.com
