TUBAO, La Union – A suspected drug pusher was gunned down by police after he attempted to throw a grenade when he was cornered by the raiding team during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Leones East here Tuesday morning.
Chief Inspector Silverio Ordinado Jr, Information Officer of La Union Police, identified the suspect as Jamichael Diaz, 25, a resident of Sitio Turod, Leones East this town.
Initial investigation showed that the suspect had just sold shabu worth P500 to an agent when he sensed that he is transacting with a policeman and immediately ran but was cornered by pursuing policemen.
“He was about to pull the pin of a hand grenade, but was shot by policemen in the head which causes his immediate death,” Ordinado said, quoting report from Senior Inspector Juan Jay-ar Maggay, the town’s police Chief.
Diaz has been in the drug watch list of the municipality.
