CAMP DIEGO SILANG, San Fernando City, La Union — A suspected member of a local drug group and his cohort were arrested by combined elements of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and local police in Ilocos Sur on Tuesday.
PDEA Director General Isidro Lapeña identified the suspects as Benjie Revolteado, 30, and Frederick Ramos, alias Francis/Kalbo, 30, both laborers and residents of Barangay VII, City of Vigan, Ilocos Sur.
Revolteado is an alleged member of the Rosal Drug Group operating in Ilocos Sur.
Around 1 p.m., PDEA agents and police conducted an authorized search that led to the arrest of Ramos in Barangay San Julian Norte.
Seized were two transparent plastic sachets of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride, or shabu, weighing more or less 0.2 gram worth PHP600 and assorted drug paraphernalia.
An hour and a half later, the same operating unit arrested Revolteado for possession of three plastic sachets containing 0.3 gram of suspected shabu worth PHP900 also in Barangay San Julian Norte.
Revolteado and Ramos are facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. Vic Alhambra, Jr/northboundasia.com
