LINGAYEN, Pangasinan — The Pangasinan police provincial office (PPPO) has launched its drug text hotline 09273814992, in connection with the intensified war on drugs.
Supt. Jackie Candelario, PPPO police information officer, clarified that the text hotline will only entertain information about drug pushers, drug dens and even drug lords.
“The information about users will not be our focus, that will be for the barangays and respective police stations in towns and cities,” said Candelario.
Candelario said the information which will be gathered from the hotline will be handled by the provincial director and the intelligence unit for verification.
He added that a verification will be conducted first prior to possible operations.
Candelario said the drug text hotline was launched to encourage citizens to be part of the war against illegal drugs in the province by giving information to the PPPO.
“This is more neutral than them reporting to the stations in their respective towns or cities since blood relations or close affiliations within a community will not be added in their consideration.”
He said some civilians find it hard to report any information about illegal drugs in their areas for fear that it will not be discreet and they will be easily traced as the source.
Furthermore, Candelario assured the safety of informants aside from the reward money for any verified positive information.
“Initially, the provincial director will give PHP5, 000 for every positive drug pusher,” said Candelario.
He also warned prank callers or texters of their corresponding punishment. PNA/northboundasia.com
