JONES, Isabela — A 55-year-old municipal administrator and civil registrar was gunned down by two unidentified men in Barangay Uno in Isabela province Thursday evening, police said.
Noimi “Nonoy” Guerrero just arrived at his rented house in Barangay Uno when one of the men fired at him with a .45-caliber handgun, before fleeing on a motorcycle.
According to investigations, Guerrero’s assailants bought cigarettes at a nearby store while waiting for him.
The town administrator was rushed to the Prospero Bello Hospital and was later transferred to the Southern Isabela Specialists Hospital, where he was declared dead.
Guerrero was a nephew of incumbent Mayor Leticia Sebastian.
The shooting incident came several months after vice mayor Ronaldo Lucas was killed by alleged New People’s Army rebels on April 13 and San Isidro village chief and then councilor bet Heinrich Apostol was shot dead the following day.
