DTI 2 intensifies Filipino Consumers on Patrol (FILCOP) campaign in barangays

TUGUEGARAO CITY — The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Region 2 spearheaded by the Consumer Welfare Development Division (CWD) has embarked on an intensified consumer awarenes advocacy campaign in the different barangays within the region since June 2016.

DTI-02 information officer Manilyn Ponce said with the advocacy campaign theme, “Filipino Consumers on Patrol (FILCOP) sa Barangays,” the campaign aims to instill the spirit of consumerism among barangay officials, purok leaders, women’s group and health workers in the community.

Ponce said as of August 2016, a total of 2,619 consumers have benefitted from the 151 barangays in the region since June.

The DTI-02 will continue to intensify its efforts in empowering consumers to become more vigilant including those from the far flung barangays.

The advocacy campaign includes lectures on the Eight Consumer Rights, Five Consumer Responsibilities, Different Types of Consumers, and an open forum.

The participants were given an opportunity to ask questions and clarifications regarding their experiences and ask for possible solutions.

Same activity is set to be conducted in the different barangays of Cagayan province on September 2016. PNA/northboundasia.com
