LAOAG CITY — The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) and the Philippine National Police recently recognized Governor Ma. Imelda Josefa Marcos for her leadership and all-out support to crack down illegal drugs trade here.
Based on the results of National Headquarters Selection Board, the Provincial Government of Ilocos Norte, led by Marcos, was awarded a plaque of merit, signed by PNP chief himself.
In her statement issued on Monday, Marcos, a hall of fame outstanding Governor of the Philippines, expressed gratitude for another recognition awarded to her.
“I thank the PNP and DILG for recognizing Ilocos Norte as one of the most peaceful places in the country! Congrats to the INPPO, and the barangay and civilian multiplier forces who have been the key to our success versus the narco-trade,” she said.
In Ilocos Norte, the eradication of drugs has been one of the top priority programs of the provincial government, providing logistics and operational support to the local police in its continued effort to keep Ilocos Norte drug-free and a safe place to live in.
The awarding body described Marcos as “a woman that make words put into action” hence, inspiring her constituents to do better.
“We want to lengthen our lead in all areas already ahead of the rest of the country; education, culture, and job creation. As we grow as a province, we must maintain our traditional inclusive, our humanity and compassion for the less fortunate. While we embrace technology in all its myriad forms, we will honor culture, heritage and the values that make us Ilocano,” she noted as she acknowledged peace and order and public safety play a vital role for development.
Marcos is among the 10 governors to be cited by President Rodrigo Duterte administration for her serious effort to make Ilocos Norte a drug-free province. PNA/northboundasia.com
