BAGUIO CITY — The observation of the Baguio City’s 107th Charter Anniversary will begin on Monday with a simple launching program immediately after the flag-raising ceremony at the Baguio City Hall Quadrangle.
Earlier, Baguio City Mayor announced that the Baguio Day activities were ready spread out through the month with the theme, “Fostering Meaningful Change through Synergy and Cooperation.”
The launch on Monday will be graced by guests from Baguio City sister city – Hanyu City, Japan.
The celebration will start with the “call to action” by Baguio City Administrator Carlos Canilao, co-chair of the Baguio Day Committee.
Canilao will invite various sectors to do their share in contributing to the city’s development efforts in whatever way they can.
The month-long activities were prepared by Baguio City Council Committee Chairman on Tourism Elmer Datuin and Baguio City tourism officer Benedicto Alhambra being members of the committee.
Activities include activities prepared from Aug. 22 to 31 – Cybermonth Nationwide Gadget Sale, dreamworks mascot parade, the Baguio Day Health Fair at the Baguio Convention Center (BCC) to render various free medical service to indigents, the “Astig Ako Go Lang ng Go Battle of the Champs” on Aug. 29.
The Baguio Day celebration will be highlighted with the traditional parade along the city’s main thoroughfares and the recognition of the five “Outstanding Citizens of Baguio City” chosen by the Society of Outstanding Citizens of Baguio (SOCOB).
Other activities include the Special Monthly Raffle Draw for Mid-Year Pabuenas at the Baguio Center Mall (Sept. 1); Search for Miss Baguio Pre-Pageant at the BCC (Sept. 3); the Mr. Baguio (Nick Domalsin Cup) at the BCC (Sept. 8); Bloodletting activity (Sept. 10); Miss Baguio Grand Coronation Night (Sept. 17); Little Miss Baguio (Sept. 22); Baguio Day Jobs Fair (Sept. 24); and the Mass Wedding on Sept. 29.
