Classes in Dagupan City suspended anew for 4th straight day

DAGUPAN CITY — Classes have been suspended anew for the fourth straight day since Monday, but this time only from pre-school to senior high school, both public and private, in this city.

The suspension came following a declaration of state calamity for the entire city on Aug. 17.

In her official Facebook account, Mayor Belen Fernandez cited the continuous swelling of the city’s river system due to high tide and water coming from upstream which inundated the major thoroughfares, streets and barangay roads in the city and the need to ensure the safety of children as the reasons for suspending classes.

The mayor also ordered that work in government offices in Dagupan, which she also suspended on Aug. 17 (Wednesday), due to widespread flood spawned by days of monsoon rains shall also resume. PNA/northboundasia.com
