San Fernando City hit by floods due to monsoon rains

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga — Continuous rains since Friday night have submerged some areas in this city in floodwaters.

A report from the City Disaster Rick Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) showed that some parts of the city were waist-deep in water.

Parts of the Jose Abad Santos Ave. (JASA) here are no longer passable to light vehicles.

Portions of Barangay Dolores until the Makabali Memorial Hospital going to the city proper, the Tagulud Rotonda in Barangay San Nicolas, and Barangay San Juliana were also flooded.

Floodwaters rose up to three feet in Barangays Del Carmen, San Pedro Cutud and Maligaya.

The CDRRMO said there is an ongoing operation to rescue residents at Phases 3 and 4 of St. Jude Village.

Meanwhile, City Mayor Edwin Santiago ordered the activation of the City of San Fernando Emergency Operations Center located at the Heroes Hall here.

He said the San Isidro Integrated School was opened to serve as an evacuation center.

He called on the residents to help the city government monitor the situation. PNA/northboundasia.com
