TABUK CITY, Kalinga — At least PHP2.2 million worth of marijuana plants were uprooted in Mt. Chumanchil in Tinglayan, Kalinga province during an anti-narcotics operation Friday.
The plants were uprooted from an 8.8-hectare marijuana plantation that was planted with PHP449 million worth of marijuana, director of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) for the Cordillera region, Juvenal Azurin said.
The team that conducted the operation, consisting of officers of PDEA, the Army and Air Force, will soon return to the site to destroy a 70-hectare marijuana plantation, Azurin said.
He added that the same team last week destroyed about PHP2.2 billion worth of fully-grown marijuana in the same mountain. PNA/northboundasia.com
