SAN ANTONIO, Nueva Ecija — A member of the town council here has pledged a five-hectare property from his Cabanatuan City estate for the establishment of a drug rehabilitation center in support of the government’s drive against illegal drugs and crimes.
Renan Morales, Sangguniang Bayan member and Philippine Councilors’ League-Nueva Ecija (PCL-NE) Vice President, said he will donate the property to the provincial government of Nueva Ecija as he also vowed to help create funds for the project.
“We saw the right direction of President (Rodrigo) Duterte to get rid the problem on illegal drugs and because it is root of so many crimes and we should support this campaign,” Morales said.
Earlier, the Provincial Peace and Order Council identified a government facility in Pantabangan town for the rehabilitation of some drug users who voluntarily submitted themselves to authorities in connection with the Philippine National Police’s (PNP’s) Oplan Tokhang and decided to take the new path.
Morales said his property would be able to cater some 500 drug dependents.
He said his fellows at the league would also sponsor rehabilitation of some drug users from their respective jurisdiction. PNA/ northboundasia.com
