SAN GUILLERMO, Isabela — The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) – Isabela on Tuesday inaugurated a newly-completed evacuation center at barangay Nakar of this town.
DILG – Isabela director Elpidio Durwin said the project was proposed by the local government unit (LGU) to be funded under the bottom-up-budgeting (BuB).
With the new center, the village will no longer have to house their evacuees in school buildings, which used to be the practice before.
The official is confident that other LGUs will also construct their own evacuation center just like what San Guillermo did.
Tuesday’s inauguration was also graced by San Guillermo mayor Marilou Sanchez
Last week, Governor Faustino G. Dy III urged local government units (LGUs) in Isabela to construct their own evacuation center.
Dy made the call during the inauguration of the Php27 million typhoon-proof multi-purpose evacuation center located at the capitol compound. PNA/ northboundasia.com
