TUGUEGARAO CITY — The Office of Civil Defense (OCD) Region 2 on Monday said 1,863 families or 8,289 persons in 35 barangays from the provinces of Cagayan and Isabela were affected by the onslaught of severe tropical storm ‘Carina’.
OCD-02 regional director Norma Talosig said 10 evacuation centers are currently housing 139 families or 435 persons in the said provinces.
As of Monday morning, the towns of Buguey, Gattaran, Baggao, Lallo, Rizal, Enrile and Solana in Cagayan have been experiencing intermittent power interruptions.
As for road conditions in the region, Daang Maharlika remains passable.
With this, the provincial government of Isabela declared suspension of classes in both public and private elementary and secondary schools province wide on Monday.
Cagayan, meanwile, declared suspension of classes in all levels, both public and private.
The OCD RO2 and Regional Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (RDRRMC) Region 2 is set to conduct ocular inspection in the areas affected by STS “Carina” on Monday.
Standby funds worth PHP2,893,660.62 and a stockpile of 16,431 family food packs are readily available for distribution to disaster-hit families.
An additional 3,500 family food packs were also prepositioned to the following:
Province of Isabela – 1,000
Province of Cagayan – 1,000
-Municipality of Sta. Ana – 300 family food packs
-Municipality of Gonzaga – 300 family food packs
-Municipality of Sta. Teresita – 300 family food packs
-Municipality of Buguey – 300 family food packs
-Municipality of Aparri – 300 family food packs,
Also, a total of 3,794 family food packs were preposition in the provinces of Quirino and Nueva Vizcaya, particularly in and municipalities of Alfonso Castañeda, Ambaguio, Kayapa and in Isabela’s coastal towns of Divilacan, Dinapigue and Maconacon. PNA/ northboundasia.com
