Ilocos Norte fishers alerted against rough seas as ‘Carina’ intensifies

LAOAG CITY — Disaster authorities in Ilocos Norte on Sunday warned fisherfolks not to venture into the seas due to expected rough to very rough conditions in the northern and eastern seaboards of Luzon brought by tropical storm ‘Carina’.

As of this posting, the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) of Ilocos Norte continues to monitor the situation as it advised the public to be on alert and take precautionary measures.

The province is among the areas under Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 2.

At 8:00 a.m. Sunday, ‘Carina’ has maintained its strength as it poses threat to the Isabela-Cagayan area.

Packing a maximum sustained winds of up to 85 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 100 kph, Carina is expected to make a landfall over Cagayan this afternoon and will exit Ilocos Norte late on Sunday night.

Light to moderate rainfall is now experienced in some parts of Ilocos Norte as the eye of the typhoon was estimated at 210 km East Northeast of Casiguran, Aurora as of 7:00 a.m. on Sunday. PNA/ northboundasia.com
