MANILA — President Rodrigo Duterte has called on the support of local chief executives to address the country’s drug crisis.
“It’s a drug problem. It’s a drug crisis. 170,000 surrenderees. Is that a police problem? The police cannot solve it,” he said during the oath taking of officers of the League of Cities and Provinces held at Malacañan Palace Wednesday night.
President Duterte reiterated his administration would not let-up in its campaign against illegal drugs.
“This serious problem now reaching millions. Mabuti’t nandito kayo at tutulong kayo. So I’ve been trying to figure out how I can cope up with the problem,” the President said.
The Chief Executive believes that the sale and use of illegal drugs is an enormous problem, noting “three Presidents from now would not be able to solve it.”
“There’s a huge problem. The enormity and the dimension of which has never been shown in the past in this country,” he added. Leslie Venzon/PNA/northboundasia.com
