CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela — After the inauguration of the PHP27 million multi-purpose evacuation center on Wednesday, Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer Atty. Constante Foronda said that four more evacuation centers located at the coastal towns are nearly completed.
Foronda said the evacuation centers are located at Maconacon, Divilacan, Palanan and Dinapigue respectively.
He said the evacuation center in Dinapigue is almost done and it is set to be inaugurated in the succeeding days while the other three are 85 percent completed and are expected to be finished within this year.
He said the evacuation centers that are contracted in the four coastal towns are smaller compared to the provincial evacuation centers which are all typhoon-proof and are able to withstand strong winds.
Meanwhile, Foronda said the newly-inaugurated multi-purpose evacuation center will be used as rescue academy where all rescue units from the localities of Isabela can use the facility in the conduct of rescue trainings.
The evacuation center can accommodate at least 3,000 with complete facilities like comfort rooms, kitchen, infirmary and other facilities to comfort the future evacuees. PNA/northboundasia.com
