Isabela exec declares July 29 non-working holiday

CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela — The local chief executive of this province has declared July 29, 2016 and every last Friday of July every year thereafter a non-working holiday in all government and non-government offices.

Governor Faustino G. Dy III signed Executive Order 13 declaring July 29, 2016 a non-working holiday amending Executive Order 21 series of 2015 issued on May 26, 2015.

Dy said the declared holiday aims to conduct activities that promote public health and safety eliminate public risks and inconveniences and enhance preparations for the typhoon season.

He said the provincial government is committed to implement a policy of adopting a Disaster risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) approach that is holistic, comprehensive, integrated and proactive in reducing the socio-economic and environmental impacts of disasters and promote the involvement and participation of all sectors and stakeholders, especially the local community.

Dy said strengthening DRRM initiatives will enhance the awareness, enthusiasm and participation of residents of Isabela in DRRM activities and promote better understanding about disaster risks and residents’ roles and responsibilities in making the families, homes, and communities prepared for natural and man-made disasters and calamities.

He has directed all provincial government offices, PDRRMC and PDRRMO, DPWH engineering districts, ISELCO I & II, all water district offices, Liga ng Mga Barangay – Isabela chapter, League of Municipalities of the Philippines – Isabela Chapter, Philippine National Police, Philippine Army, Bureau of Fire Protection, Department of Education, Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Public Safety Office, and the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) to conduct tree planting or trimming, road or canal cleaning operations and de-clogging of major canals to eliminate obstruction that cause flooding and power and water supply interruptions during heavy storms, rolling up of tarpaulin billboards, preparation of evacuation centers and inspection of buildings and public infrastructures.
