OFW advocacy group lauds President Rodrigo Duterte’s vow to fight human trafficking, illegal recruitment

MANILA, Philippines — A group advocating the welfare of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) lauded the statement of President Rodrigo Duterte against human trafficking and illegal recruitment activities in the country.

“The OFW sector is also happy he will be true to his campaign to create a separate department for our OFWs and a hi-tech one-stop shop to address their needs,” said Susan Ople, president, Blas F. Ople Center.

She believes that those who are engaged in such activities will be having sleepless nights as the government has declared war against them.

“The President has declared war against human traffickers and illegal recruiters. Maraming hindi makakatulog ngayon sa mga nambibiktima sa ating mga OFWs,” Ople said.

She added, “Definitely President Duterte has a soft spot for the poor, our workers and our OFWs. We will support his vision all the way.”
