MANILA, Philippines — Business groups want to hear concrete plans on various issues during the first State of the Nation Address (SONA) of President Rodrigo Duterte on Monday.
Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) President George Barcelon said the country’s largest business group hopes to hear President Duterte’s specific programs and projects on agriculture sector.
“We want to hear his concrete steps on agriculture. What concrete actions to be taken by his administration particularly on infrastructure, irrigation, and farm-to-market roads,” said Barcelon.
He added that as the new administration is aiming for prosperity for all, the PCCI president said he hopes that the Chief Executive will voice how he will support the micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), specifically in terms of financing.
For the part of Philippine Exporters Confederation (Philexport) President Sergio Ortiz-Luis Jr., he wishes Pres. Duterte to clarify the administration’s direction on mining sector.
Ortiz-Luis likewise said he wants to hear further plans of the administration in easing doing business in the country.
Bangsamoro Business Club (BBC) President Mohamad Omar Pasigan also told the Philippines News Agency that the business group wishes to know concrete plans of President Duterte on the development of Mindanao, particularly the Bangsamoro area.
Pasigan added that he wishes Pres. Duterte will mention about the peace negotiation in Mindanao.
“We want to hear that Pres. Duterte will continue the peace talk and we hope this time the negotiation will succeed,” he said.
