BINMALEY, Pangasinan — The number one drug personality in Binmaley town and his cohort, also a priority target of the police, were shot dead in an armed encounter with policemen implementing a search warrant on Saturday at about 5 p.m. in Barangay San Isidro Sur, Binmaley.
The fatalities were identified as Jay Reloza, alias “Joey,” at whose house was the subject of a search warrant issued by Regional Trial Court Judge Maria Laarni Parayno of Branch 68 in Lingayen, and Jestoni Bernardo, who was also in the Barangay Drug Abuse Council (BADAC) watchlist.
When they were implementing the search warrant, lawmen found Reloza and Bernardo engaged in a pot session. Upon seeing the lawmen, the two attempted to shoot the implementing officers with their respective firearms.
However, Reloza’s firearm got jammed and gave the law enforcers the opportunity to retaliate and neutralize him and his companion.
Scene of the Crime Operatives recovered from the scene of the encounter two short hand guns owned by the suspects, several pieces of transparent heat-sealed plastic sachets containing white crystalline substance believed to be shabu, six live bullets for Caliber .22 pistol and two live bullets for Cal. M16, and fired cartridge cases for Cal. 9mm.
The recovered pieces of evidences were brought to the PNP Crime Laboratory in Lingayen for scientific examination.
Thereafter, the search was resumed in the presence of barangay officials which resulted in the seizure of another heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet of suspected shabu, one rolled aluminum foil, one aluminum foil strip with suspected shabu residue, one piece of improvised holder, one tweezers, and three lighters.
The confiscated items were brought to the police station for documentation purposes.
Meanwhile, the number 1 drug personality and priority target of the Dagupan City Police was gunned down and killed by two unidentified men riding in tandem on a motorcycle without a plate number at about 8:30 p.m. of July 23.
The victim was identified as Jay Morante, alias “Ulo,” 36, a tricycle driver of Malued District, Dagupan City.
He was buying soft drink from a sari-sari store in Pantal Centro, Dagupan, when he was shot by the backrider of the motorcycle.
The victim sustained gunshot wounds mostly on his head, causing his instantaneous death.
Before they sped off, the gunmen left a written message in a white coupon bond which stated “Wag tularan… tulak –DDS.”
Five empty shells and two deformed slugs and one heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet containing suspected shabu together with Morante’s wallet and assorted ID’s were found at the crime scene. PNA/northboundasia.com
