ILOILO CITY — The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) in Western Visayas has joined the campaign of President Rodrigo Duterte for a drug-free community as all its officials and employees have been ordered to undergo mandatory drug test.
DENR Regional Director Jim O. Sampulna issued an order for a free drug testing among officials and employees of the agency. He explained that the act is a manifestation of their being public servants who are “proper and worthy of their trust.”
“Those who will be tested positive will be dealt with accordingly. I will even subject myself to this mandatory drug testing,” Sampulna said Monday.
Expenses to be incurred in the mandatory drug testing will be shouldered by the DENR Regional Gender and Development (GAD) program.
Sampulna also disclosed that drug testing was one of the requisites for their newly-hired personnel when they commenced with the implementation of their rationalization plan.
“Let us set ourselves as models among the public and among our families that we are free from the use of illegal drugs and or in what manner involved in illegal drugs” he urged. PNA/ northboundasia.com
