Ilocos Norte village chief gunned down

BADOC, Ilocos Norte —A village chief in Barangay Alogoog tagged as top drug personality in this town was shot dead at about 6:55 pm Friday.

Sisenado Torralba, a younger brother of former Badoc town vice mayor Thomas Torralba was gunned down by still unidentified assailants on board a vehicle near his residence.

Senior Inspector Rodelio Santos, Badoc police chief, said the victim incurred one gunshot wound in the head. He was pronounced dead on arrival when he was brought to a nearby hospital in Sinait, Ilocos Sur.

Police recovered at least five empty shells of M16 Armalite rifle at the crime scene.

As the numbered one drug personality in this town based on police watch list, Santos said the killing may have been attributed to drugs where drug syndicates are “clearing within their ranks”.

In view of the intensified campaign against drugs in support to the Duterte adminsitration, Santos said at least 117 drug personalities from the various villages of Badoc voluntary surrendered while they are expecting more to surrender in the next few days. PNA/northboundasia.com
