Pope Francis condemns attack on Nice — Vatican official

MOSCOW — Pope Francis has condemned attack on the French southern city of Nice, Director of the Holy See Press Office Father Federico Lombardi said Friday.

Late on Thursday evening, a heavy truck hit a crowd celebrating the Bastille Day in Nice, killing 84 and injuring dozens more.

“We want to make known, on the part of Pope Francis and ourselves, our sharing and solidarity in the suffering of the victims and all the French people, in what was supposed to be a great day of celebration,” Lombardi said, as quoted by Vatican Radio.

“We condemn in an absolute manner every manifestation of homicidal folly, hatred, terrorism, and attacks against peace,” he added.

He said that Vatican was following the tragedy during the night with the greatest concern. PNA/Sputnik/northboundasia.com
