Two airplanes collide in Minsk due to thunderstorm, no injuries reported

MINSK — Two airplanes, a cargo and a passenger, collided on the airfield of Belarus’ Minsk National Airport on Wednesday due to a thunderstorm, the national airline Belavia said. There have been no reports of injuries, it said.

The two airplanes involved in the collision belong to the Belarusian Belavia Airline and the Ruby Star Air Carrier Company, respectively and carried no passengers when the accident occurred.

The Minsk National Airport said eight airplanes were damaged due to the bad weather. The two planes collided, one small plane rolled and torn to pieces and five aircraft received minor damage.

The airport said that it operated as usual now, adding that no people were injured as a result of an abrupt wind and a rain squall in the territory of the airport. PNA/Xinhua/northboundasia.com
