BALER, Aurora — Eleven drug personalities were arrested and 191 users have surrendered to the Aurora police in a five-day intensified campaign against illegal drugs here which started last July 1.
Police Inspector Michelle Paulino, chief of Public Information Office (PIO) of Aurora Philippine National Police (PNP), said the police in this province are maximizing its efforts in eradicating all forms of illegal drug activities after the PNP national headquarters launched the intensified campaign plan Double Barrel.
“One touch of the barrel, two triggers will be set off. There is a barrel that will target from above, the high-value targets. And there is a barrel that will target from below, the street-level personalities,” Paulino said.
She also expressed confidence in winning the battle against illegal drugs, saying that they already started ‘Operation Tokhang’ (knock-plead) in this province at full blast.
Paulino said that Aurora Provincial Police Office (APPO) police director Senior Superintendent Danilo Florentino issued a strong message to drug users, peddlers and drug pushers for a massive campaign against distribution of illegal drugs in this province.
“We are inviting them to come out and signify their intention to stop the use and distribution of illegal drugs as the intense campaign against to all forms of illegal drugs is being carried out here,” she said.
She said that with the help of the local government officials and intelligence network, religious organization, and the media, the drug menace in the whole province would be eradicated.
“In this project, local government units particularly in the Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Councils (BADACs), non-government organizations and other agencies will visit those suspected users and pushers and will convince them to stop drug activities,” Paulino said, adding that the police will urge all those involved in illegal drugs to reform or face the law.
Paulino said that as a result, “they keep coming out” -referring to drug users and pushers.
By fear of execution, drug pushers and users have surrendered to as police and barangay officials joined hands in carrying out a tough anti-drug program initiated by President Rodrigo Duterte and Chief PNP Police General Ronald dela Rosa, she added. PNA/northboundasia.com
