BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya — National and local government workers here have forged a partnership in a bid to lessen the number of teenage pregnancies in the province.
Lita Tabudlo, provincial social welfare and development officer said they have just concluded a two-day parenting education seminar to more than 100 parents in Bayombong and Solano towns.
“This activity was conducted in collaboration with the Population Commission (POPCOM), Department of Education(DepEd) and state colleges and universities(SUCs) in the province. It was conceived due to the increasing number of teenage pregnancies in two towns,” she said.
Tabudlo said the activity is part of tha advocacy efforts of concerned agencies to prevent the rise of teenage pregnancies, particularly in Bayombong and Solano towns.
The seminar focused mainly on Parenting Education on Adolescent Health and Development (AHD) for Health and Non-Health Youth Service Providers in both towns.
Tabudlo said the activity also involved school principals, guidance counsellors and teachers for an orientation on Fertility Awareness, Rediscovering Adolescence and Proposed Interventions to address Teenage Pregnancy.
The activity, she said was supervised by resource speakers from the POPCOM in Cagayan.
The provincial government, through the PSWDO is also bringing the advocacy program to the Barangay Health Workers(BHWs) of Solano and Bayombong towns. PNA/northboundasia.com
